Meet the maker – Patternplan
Tell us about yourself, who are you and what do you do?
My name is Anette Carlsson Moberg, a designer and artist living with my family and cats in Varberg, a small town on the west cost of Sweden. Here I’ve started my creative platform built on the foundations of my design career. The creativity is the source and it covers many different areas of expertise, workshops, paintings and challenging collaborations. I mostly work with ink and acrylic, booth are my favorites!
How did you come to the creative place you are at today? What´s your creative history?
After more than a decade as inhouse designer in the fashion industry I longed for home and to explore my own creativity. Before that I studied art and design. I was a late bloomer, I started my studies when I was nearly 30. Before that it was just a dream, so you see, dreams can come true!
What do you try to achieve with the work you create?
Honesty and curiosity are leading my creative process. That’s what I want people to feel when they buy my products, my art or meet me at my workshops.
How come Patternplan, what´s the story behind?
The name “Patternplan” is from my exam work, School of Textiles in Borås. It’s was about laminate and pattern. I have always been fascinated by surfaces, patterns and shapes. And the name has been my companion since then, and it is now a perfect name for my company, my creative platform of patterns – Patternplan.
How do you get in the right “creative mode” – what does your happy place look like?
Sometimes you just have to get started and I promise the inspiration will come! My happy place is in the working process.
What does your craft space look like?
I work from home where I have two studios, one in the basement of our house and a lovely studio in our barn. The barn´s such a perfect place. I also have a studio in Gothenburg whick is my showroom and a meeting point for my workshops.
If I would like to get going with my creativity, what´s your advice?
Come to my workshops! No but seriously, just start somewhere. A pen and a paper is a good start, do your doodling and be kind, always.
Please share 3 sources of inspiration
To see the big in the small, the colors and the shapes that surrounds you.
Be kind to you self, use your creative mistakes for inspirations.
A lot of good music!
What do you have planned for the future?
I want to teach and paint more. I guess that’s my element, to be in a creative flow, alone with my paintings or to inspire others. And my studios are perfect places for both!
