Have you tried shibori before and want to get into it a bit further? In this workshop you will try arashi shibori (pole-wrapping), honeycomb shibori (using string) and itajime (folding and blocks) shibori. You´ll be guided by Linnea Blomgren who is a textile artist working with natural dyeing with indigo. In this workshop we´ll be making our own dye vat do get to know the process and then dyeing silk fabric enough to make a scarf or two.
Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that typically involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing. We´ll be using natural indigo which comes in many forms. We use natural indigo dye powder from Indian Indigo fera tinctoria and a sustainable 1-2-3 vat method.

September 29 10:00-15:00 at Makespace at Open Lab, Valhallavägen 79, Stockholm. It’s by KTH and the closest subway station is Tekniska högskolan. You will be sent detailed instructions a few days before the event.
The workshop costs 1 800 SEK, 1 500 SEK for workshop, dye, fabric samples, fika and 300 SEK for material which is silk fabric big enough for 2 scarves (or something else).
If you have time to more dyeing you can buy silk scarves (140 SEK) and cotton totes (50 SEK) at the workshop to dye.
